F.I.R.E.S. is a virtual reality computer simulation that enables safety professionals to practice realistic mock fire inspections without leaving their stations. Developed for fire inspectors by fire inspectors, F.I.R.E.S. is a self-paced program of practice and testing scenarios based on International Code Council data. There is also an inspection curriculum reviewing construction mistakes, maintenance code problems, hidden chemical or material risks, and electrical and other pervasive violations.

F.I.R.E.S. was initially developed with the Center for Public Safety Excellence and Wilson Fire/Rescue Services in North Carolina. The newest version was developed by CTI, CPSE and the Ionia Department of Public Safety in Michigan.
